We are always hiring experienced midwives
Rural and critical access hospitals call us when they need midwives who can step in, steady a program and teach as they go. If that is the kind of midwife you are, we would like to meet you.
The work
Midwifery where it is needed most
Hospitals bring us in at moments of change: a new hire is credentialing, a program is restarting, a unit is short a midwife. We add experienced midwives to our team to provide clinic and restricted call coverage at rural and critical access hospitals, from a few weeks to a longer locum term.
These are small units with low birth numbers, where a midwife is often the person other staff look to. You would come as the experienced midwife the unit needs, working with its physicians and nurses, and leaving the team stronger than you found it.
Who we are looking for
Experienced, steady and generous with what you know
- Experienced midwives who are comfortable practicing in small, low-volume units with limited resources
- Midwives who work well with physicians and nurses and like to teach
- Midwives who can be licensed and credentialed in the states where hospitals need coverage. Tell us your certification and licensure when you write
We hire on a rolling basis, so we are glad to hear from you even when we do not have a specific opening. Terms are discussed directly with each midwife and are not posted here.
Mentoring
No midwife should practice alone
Hiring midwives is hard, and keeping them is harder. Midwives, especially new ones, in hospitals with low birth numbers need a non-physician mentor to call on. Our senior midwife is that mentor, and mentoring is part of how we work. If you are starting out in a small hospital, ask your leaders about our Midwife Mentoring service. If you have precepted or mentored and enjoy it, tell us.
